August Horch on November 14, 1899 established the A. Horch and Cie. Ten years later, Horch had a falling out with his board and left the company. Banned from using his own name, he chose Audi, that means hark in German. In 1932, the company merged with four other companies, which resulted in the four ring Audi logo that stands to this day. Today, there are six Audi models in the lineup, including the A3, A4, A6, A8, S4 and the roadster TT.
The Audi heritage, surprisingly to many, goes back over a century to August Horsch of Germany who dedicated himself to manufacturing, in his words, good strong vehicles for discerning tastes. This understated principle, backed by Audis mission to advance through technology, has produced a vehicle that deserves its place among the other noted prestige marques.
Audi engineers are continually striving for better solutions and new ways that are typical of Audi both for the vehicle itself as well as for the safety of its passengers and the protection of the environment.
